Alabaster has long been prized for its translucent qualities, explored in sculptures, screens and artifacts. The stone is extracted as irregular boulders, buried at varying depths. Although it is associated with the cool pure white, Alabaster is available in a number of selections due to the mineral deposits that naturally impregnate the block to produce a variety of shades and veining. The translucent appeal of this material can be enhanced with natural light as a window or by being backlit as a screen. Alabaster Prima Luce is the whitest selection but each selection offers translucency. |
