The site, set within wooded rolling hills, is about one-and-a-half hours by Shinkansen north of Tokyo. A 100-room world-class resort hotel is to be built in stages. In the first stage, there will be forty rooms as well as a championship-quality clubhouse for the two golf courses, served by a common lobby. To facilitate staging, and to avoid the institutional look of many contemporary resorts, the building has been organized as a set of pavilions arranged around a series of water elements, with the clubhouse facing south, where it will overlook the 18th hole, and the hotel facing north, where it will take advantage of distant mountain views.
