Former project architect Jamie Fobert and Amanda Levete both make the cut

Tate St Ives has shortlisted six firms to design an extension for its gallery in Cornwall.

6a Architects, Amanda Levete Architects, DSDHA, Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, Jamie Fobert Architects and Tony Fretton Architects were selected following an Ojeu tender process.

Jamie Fobert originally won the commission from Cornwall County Council in 2005, but earlier this year lost the scheme because the client and site had changed.

Tate is now leading the project after receiving the land for the extension as a gift from the council.

The shortlisted teams will be interviewed and assessed in early 2012 by a panel including representatives from Tate, Cornwall Council, St Ives Town Council and an independent assessor.
