Architects' desks: Richard Jobson, director at Design Engine
Richard Jobson writes: “I sit with my fellow directors Richard Rose-Casemore and Rod Graham. This has a big advantage in that we can keep up to speed with other projects we are not directly involved in while allowing spontaneous conversations about all aspects of the practice from informal crits to money matters. "In truth my desk is by the far the most untidy of the three of us and reflects the very different ways we all work. I have been spending a lot of time developing a masterplan for Charterhouse School in Godalming, which started following winning the competition to design a new chemistry building. The sketch model in the photo is an earlier incarnation of the final design. All projects in the office are developed through physical modelling and supported by cad. The tracing pad has further sketches of the development of the school campus. "Like all directors I always have numerous projects on the go at any one time, some of which are seen in this image. The Sketch-up image is of Oxford Brookes University which is currently on site and is by far the biggest project the practice has worked on to date." |
