Elder & Cannon picks up two Saltire gongs
The project was named best large-scale housing development and also won the Saltire Medal, chosen by 2011’s guest chair of judges Malcolm Fraser. Rettie & Co won the inaugural innovation in housing award for its Resonance funding model – an approach financing social and affordable housing schemes. Cameron Webster Architects was awarded best new-build private dwelling for Craignish at Lochgilphead. Fraser said: “Elder & Cannon’s housing in Maryhill shows that what’s at the heart of good building, is architecture. This is building that is both strong and humane, its robustness at the service of those who live there.” The awards were presented by Scotland’s cabinet secretary for infrastructure and capital investment Alex Neil at a ceremony in Edinburgh.
