DSDHA has completed a new gateway for Vauxhall Spring Gardens in south London.

The practice, working for the London Borough of Lambeth, has built two 18m-tall concrete columns, designed to frame views in and out of the park.

The columns draw inspiration from the former Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens, which previously occupied the site. Though only open on summer evenings, the space was filled with ornate architecture and sculptures.

In the future the Friends of Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens will commission artwork to sit on top of the new columns.
