Page Park’s refurbishment of the Scottish National Portrait Gallery (SNPG) is complete, with the building due to open on December 1.
The £17.6 million renovation of the Robert Rowand Anderson-designed building included the remodelling of the ground floor and the construction of a mezzanine level with offices. The museum’s café and shop have also been doubled in size.
John Leighton, director-general of the National Galleries of Scotland, said: “The new SNPG will be a superb setting to showcase rich traditions of Scottish art and photography; it is also a forum where issues of history and identity come to life through art. Perhaps above all, it is a place where individual and collective stories and memories come together to create a fascinating and imaginative portrait of a nation.”
The renovated gallery also contains an education suite, seminar room and studio space. |
