Olafur Eliasson design to decorate Danish harbour
Studio Olafur Eliasson has unveiled plans for a new development for Vejle harbour in Denmark for investment company Kirk Kapital. The masterplan, developed in collaboration with Lundgaard & Tranberg Arkitekter and Vogt Landscape Architects, comprises a new Harbour Island with 12 buildings for housing and commercial use, as well as a new marina. Eliasson is working on a sculpted brick building which contains a café and an exhibition space on the ground floor, with commercial leases and the headquarters for Kirk Kapital on the upper floors. “The process of conceiving the new building for Kirk Kapital has been fantastic,” said Eliasson. “Not least because I have been given the chance to explore both different sculptural qualities and the relationship between individual and collective experiences of space in an explicitly architectural context.” Eliasson’s building is expected to be completed by 2016. |
