Conran and Partners wins £60m Lambeth scheme
Conran and Partners has been appointed by Henley Homes to design a £60 million 200-home development on a 1.2 ha site in Lambeth, south London. An open competition was held to find an architect for the scheme, which will be built on the site of the former Lilian Baylis School on Lollard Street using a mixture of refurbishment, conversion and new build. Some of the school buildings built in the 1960s were grade II listed in 2002 and will be preserved as part of the site plan. Full planning and listed building applications are expected to be made next summer. Lee Davies, director at Conran and Partners, said: “Our experience in preserving and bringing back to life historic buildings proved to be a deciding factor. “Our task now is to design the right mix of housing that fits right in with the existing community in Lambeth.”
