Heatherwick V&A exhibition dates announced
Details have been confirmed of Thomas Heatherwick’s exhibition at the V&A next year. The designer, who is strongly tipped to land the first design competition at the Chelsea Barracks site in west London, will showcase his talents at the London museum between May 31 and September 30. The exhibition will include two decades of projects covering more than 150 objects, including the original seed-tipped rod from the UK Pavilion at last year’s world Expo in Shanghai. V&A director Martin Roth said: “We are delighted to be showing the first solo exhibition of the work of Thomas Heatherwick and his studio.” The exhibition will designed by Heatherwick and will include engineering, transport, urban planning, furniture and sculpture as well as architecture. If the firm is confirmed as winner of the Chelsea contract it will have beaten Zaha Hadid Architects, DSDHA and David Adjaye to land the prize which will involve converting the grade II listed Garrison chapel into community use. |
