Edward Cullinan, Heneghan Peng and Henning Larsen have been shortlisted for the design of a new museum in Palestine.

The other finalists are Jordanian practice Consolidated Consultants and Canadian practice Moriyama & Teshima.

The Palestine Museum, which has been in the planning for more than a decade, will be built on the campus of historic Birzeit University in the West Bank.
The client, the Welfare Association, a Palestinian organisation that runs educational, cultural and emergency programmes, is believed to have specified a first construction phase in the region of 2,500sq m.

The finalists were picked from more than 40 expressions of interest. They made formal submissions and presentations on their approach to the project to a panel which included the association’s trustees, museum specialists and local stakeholders.

A winner is expected to be announced before Christmas.
