World Architecture Top 10 practice HDR has become the latest firm to have an office in China with the company opening one in Shanghai.

The firm was ranked number 10 in Building Design’s WA100 survey of the world’s largest practices and is the world’s biggest healthcare architect, employing more than 600 people.

It has designed more than 20 healthcare, corporate, science and technology buildings across China since it first began work there six years ago.

The opening means that HDR, which has an office in London, now has 185 offices across the globe. Its director of Asia Pacific, Harold Nesland, said: “Having a Shanghai office will enable greater interaction with our clients.”
