BDP has won a competition to masterplan the Zhengdong Transit Hub in Henan, one of China’s most important transport crossroads.

The plan sets out proposals for the 300ha area around the city’s new rail and bus stations and will create more than 2 million sq m of development. 

The station, serving major high-speed rail routes between Beijing, Shanghai and Xian in the west, will have capacity for 200,000 passengers a day.

A BDP spokeswoman described the vision as wanting to create a memorable identity for the area while recognising the rich culture of the city.

The plan contains a winter garden-style covered retail area and a linear park along which towers will rise.
