Jamie Fobert Architects has been reappointed to design an extension for Tate St Ives - seven years after first winning the job.

The gallery was forced to put the project back out to tender last autumn after technical changes to the client and site.

6a Architects, Amanda Levete Architects, DSDHA, Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios and Tony Fretton Architects were also longlisted following the Ojeu process.

Four finalists were interviewed and assessed last month by a panel including Nicholas Grimshaw, the Tate’s deputy director Alex Beard, and artistic director of Tate St Ives Martin Clark

They said: “Jamie Fobert Architects’ showed a cogent approach; with clear thinking shown about what the gallery requirements will be, balanced with the requirements of the wider community. The panel were impressed with all the candidates’ proposals, which were of a very high standard.”

Tate will now work with Jamie Fobert Architects to refine the brief, the associated costs and the funding package.
