Allies & Morrison's Nine Elms plans approved
Allies and Morrison’s plans to redevelop the Royal Mail’s site at Battersea have been approved by Wandsworth Council. The 6ha site, which will be sold later this year, will include more than 1,800 residential units, a new primary school and 5,000sq m of community and retail space. Martin Gafsen, Royal Mail Group property director, said: “Royal Mail has a clear strategy to ensure we derive maximum value from any property we no longer require for our operations. “This includes selling the freehold or leases which we hold and, where appropriate, working with planning authorities to ensure that properties we are selling are attractive to new owners. “These changes are part of the ongoing modernisation and investment in our business. This is vital in order to put Royal Mail on a sound and sustainable footing for the future.” |
