The number of architects claiming unemployment benefit has seen a 12% fall in February 2012.

According to the latest joblessness figures 900 people who categorised themselves as architects when signing on, claimed the dole. This is down from 1,020 in January.

In February 2011 there were 970 architects claiming jobseeker’s allowance in the UK.

The Office of National Statistics’ definition of architect covers part 3-qualified architects, as well as architectural consultants, chartered architects and landscape architects. Architectural technologists and technicians come under separate categories.
