Latest McAslan design for Elephant & Castle revealed
Designs by John McAslan for a new leisure centre as part of the Elephant & Castle regeneration will go on public display this weekend. The firm was appointed by Lend Lease last summer to draw up plans for a new centre in the south London district with a brief to include a swimming pool to replace one which was shut a decade ago. As well as a six lane pool, facilities include a sports hall, a café, sports hall and a gym. McAslan has carried out the work along with specialist sports and leisure architect S&P. Lend Lease is leading the £1.5 billion regeneration of Elephant & Castle in partnership with Southwark Council. The developer’s project director Rob Deck said: “We want the local community and residents to be involved at every stage and we urge people to attend the exhibition to share their thoughts.” |
