Eric Parry's City building gets OK
Plans by Eric Parry Architects for a new office block in the City of London have been given the green light by planners in the Square Mile. The 15-storey scheme at 120 Fenchurch Street will include a landscaped roof garden which members of the public will be able to stroll around. As well as offices, the project includes retail space on the ground floor plus a restaurant on the 14th – one below the roof garden. Design Council Cabe has already hailed the scheme calling it “a high quality, inspiring design”. This week City planners said: “The scale of the building will be in character with the area, would not be detrimental to the setting of the nearby listed building or views from the Tower of London. Its design is innovative and it will contribute to the richness of architecture in the City.” Planners also praised the roof garden and planned improvements to public walkways. The scheme is being developed by Saxon Land BV which is run by Italian insurer and finance group Generali.
