Plans by Woods Bagot to turn the former Port of London Authority headquarters building into a hotel have been given the all clear.

The building at 10 Trinity Square near Tower Hill in the City of London opened back in 1922 but was badly damaged during the Blitz in the Second World War. The building (pictured) was rebuilt in the 1970s as an office block with work on the scheme to turn it into a 120 room hotel now due to start later this summer. .

Woods Bagot principal Rob Steul said: “The scheme restores the original plan form and creates a dynamic courtyard space which serves as the public heart of the hotel.”

It will also include 41 serviced residences while interior designer David Collins Studio has been brought in to work on a members’ club, a bar plus hotel rooms and public areas.

Joint developers on the scheme are Beijing investment firm Reignwood Group and Singapore-based KOP Properties whose hotels and resorts subsidiary will operate the new hotel. It is the first KOP scheme in Europe which has previously confined itself to Asia.
