The RIBA is hosting two exhibitions at its Portland Place headquarters celebrating the work of those British architects behind the London 2012 venues.

Both will open on June 25, and include drawings, images, videos and models of the sporting venues being used for this summer’s Olympics.

The main exhibition Design Stories: The Architecture Behind 2012, will be held in Gallery 1, which will also show live coverage of the games.

As well as the main venues such as the Olympic stadium and velodrome, the show will feature Make’s “Copper Box” handball arena; the shooting venue by Magma Architecture; and David Morley Architects’ water polo arena.

RIBA president Angela Brady said: “We want to celebrate the wonderful contribution architects have made to the Olympic and Paralympic sporting venues.”

Running in Gallery 2, will be an exhibition concentrating on the legacy of the 2012 games, and comparing this summer’s event with other countries’ monuments put up in the name of former Olympics, victories in battle, world fairs and expos.
