Avanti Architects' plans for Cardross Seminary get £500,000 boost
Avanti Architects’ plans to redevelop St Peter’s Seminary in Cardross have been given a boost by a £500,000 grant from Historic Scotland. Public arts charity NVA appointed Avanti last year to design a masterplan for the grade A listed Gillespie, Kidd & Coia-designed seminary. The project was confirmed this week as the recipient of the largest grant of 16 being given to repair sixteen buildings across Scotland. Leighton Library in Dunblane and the bridge at Brig o Doon in Alloway also received a share of more than £4 million from Heritage Scotland. While the £500,000 grant will be welcomed by NVA, the charity needs to raise a total of £15 million in the next eighteen months to proceed with its plans. An attempt to redevelop the site by Urban Splash failed due to a £5 million funding shortfall. |
