Cleaning unsealed tiles is a necessary task. While tiles in general are relatively easy to clean, unsealed tiles make it difficult, as dirt and grime accumulate in the grout much more easily. Although cleaning unsealed tile is a difficult task, with proper instruction it becomes much easier to accomplish.
Cleaning Your Tiles
1
Use a broom or vacuum to rid the floor of any excess dirt or accumulated dust. This will also help to loosen the dirt that has attached itself to the grout of the tile.
2
Sprinkle a small section of the tile with a small amount of baking soda and then pour a small amount of vinegar on top of it. The surface will begin to foam. Let it sit for 2 to 3 minutes and begin scrubbing the area with a small brush. If the tile appears cleaner than before, you have successfully begun cleaning your tile. Test only a small area at first to make sure the method is working for you.
3
Continue sprinkling the baking soda onto the grout of the remaining tile. Immediately follow with vinegar as you did on the test spot. Allow the surface to foam for approximately 2 to 3 minutes and scrub the grout with your hand brush.
4
Mop up the excess water and cleaner and allow the floor to air dry. If the grout is still not completely clean, use a steamer on the tiles to get rid of the excess dirt and grime. Mop the floor once again and allow it to dry.
