Most tile cutting tools on the market are best suited for cutting glass. Marble is much harder than glass and it requires a more powerful cutting tool. If you're just learning how to use marble tile cutting tools, practice on a few disposable pieces of marble while you hone your skills. Marble cutting isn't a difficult skill to learn, but it does require precision.
Wet Ceramic Tile Saw
Though the name says "ceramic," it's certainly not limited to that one material. Ceramic tile saws can be used to make tile-like cuts in ceramic, granite, marble and other types of stone. Their strength comes from the diamond blades. The water keeps the blade cool, which in turn give you a smooth, accurate cut.
Manual Tile Cutter
Manual tile cutters adjust to the width of the marble you're cutting. They work without electricity almost like a paper cutter. You lift the handle and push down on it to cut the marble. The blades of a manual tile cutter are made from a special steel with a ground edge.
Tile Hole Saw
If you need to cut a circular hole in your tile, use the tile hole saw. The saws are actually diamond-tipped drill bits that come in a variety of sizes. For example, if you need a small hole, you might opt for a 1-inch bit. For larger holes, they come in sizes ranging from 4 to 5 inches. These bits shouldn't be used with hammer impact type drills or they might break the marble.
