While installing a marble tile floor, you'll almost certainly need to cut at least one or two of the tiles to cover the entire floor. Cutting marble tile generates a great deal of dust and the tile may become hot during the cutting process and break or crack. Avoid these problems by using a wet saw, which uses a stream of water to cool the tile and eliminate dust.

1
Place the wet saw on a flat, level surface such as a sturdy tabletop or the floor. Pour water into the saw reservoir.

2
Mark the marble tile where you want to cut it with a grease pencil.

3
Plug the wet saw in and turn it on to start the blade spinning. Watch for the water to begin flowing near the bottom edge of the blade.

4
Slide the marble tile into the spinning blade along the line you drew. Do not force or push the tile into the blade, just gently guide the marble tile to prevent it from breaking.

5
Turn the wet saw off until you are ready to cut another tile. If you have several tiles prepared, you may cut them one after another, but do not leave the blade spinning unattended.

6
Sand any rough edges along the cut edge of the tile with 120-grit sandpaper.
