Because your marble countertops will be a substantial portion of the room, painting the walls to complement the marble is an important decorating decision. Therefore, the best paint color to use depends on the color of marble and what you wish to bring out in the room. Your paint color choices will fall into three categories: neutrals, matching and contrasting.

Use Neutrals
Neutral tones will typically go with any marble pattern. Consider beige and browns. Darker browns, like peanut butter brown are popular decorator choices. Various whites can also be used, especially in rooms that need lightening up. Choose a shade of beige or brown that complements the marble by bringing out some of the earthy colors within it.

Match the Marble
Most marbles have more than one color weaving through the stone. Match a particular color in the marble. Consider matching a minor color in the marble, one that could otherwise go unnoticed, to bring it out. Or match the primary color in the marble to make the room more homogeneous. In matching the color you don't have to match the shade. You can use the same color but a lighter or darker shade, depending on whether you wish to brighten the room or make it more cozy.

Choose a color that is not in the marble at all, but one that goes well with your marble's colors. Let the colors create a contrast. Perhaps use yellow with a brown or green marble.
