Granite is a commonly used kitchen finish material in modern construction and architectural design. In most cases, it is used for countertop surfaces, but it can also be applied to the wall behind a counter to serve as a very effective backsplash. Setting the granite slab to the wall is a generally straightforward task, and can be completed by just about anyone with basic knowledge of granite installation techniques and materials.

1
Clean any dust from the wall where the backsplash is to be placed, using a wet sponge or rag. Any dust on the wall could negatively affect the adhesive bond between the wall and the granite slab.

2
Place the granite slab face-down on the countertop, lined up with the portion of wall where it is to be placed.

3
Apply the construction adhesive in a serpentine pattern, to the back face of the granite slab, using the caulking gun. For best results, the bead should be no more than about 1-inch between rows.

4
Carefully lift the granite slab from the countertop, and press it firmly to the wall; wipe any excess construction adhesive that may have been squeezed out, using a wet sponge or rag.

5
Apply a bead of silicon caulk to the space between the wall and the back edge of the slab, and the countertop; wipe any excess caulk from these joints, using a wet sponge or rag.
