Granite Floor Tiles and Related Flooring Materials

Granite floor tiles are commonly made from clay that's heated in an oven. Lots of homes have tile floors and granite tiles really make a spectacular floor as well as wall covering and countertops. If you decide to use granite as a tile flooring, make sure to have proper sub-flooring to support the weight; these tiles are heavy.  Granite floor tiles are durable and easy to maintain.

 Granite Floor tiles are popular to use for walking on for several reasons:
  • The granite tile itself is waterproof, so it's an ideal material to use in showers, bathrooms and kitchens.

  • Rock is hard by nature.  Therefore it makes sense that it would make a durable and long-lasting floor.

  • Granite tiles, as well as other ceramic tiles, have to go through a heating process.  This process alters the mineralogy of the clay transforming it into a harder material that has crystal structure similar to some rocks.

  • The texture of granite floor tiles resembles the disruption you behold on pieces of natural marble. When sunlight streams across a tile like this, you'll see the entire texture which adds character to the tile.

  • The glazed surface of ceramic floor tiles resembles glass avoiding most things to stick well to the highly polished surface, which make it very easy to care for.  All you have to do is a quick mopping and in most cases this works well when cleaning a tile floor.
One problem, however,  is the grout between the tiles; this can be very difficult to clean. A good remedy for cleaning ceramic tile grout is oxygen bleach. The ions of oxygen contained in the solution are blasting apart stain molecules that attach themselves to the porous grout.

All too often people forget that one of the reasons they should pick things in their homes is because they make them feel good. Ceramic tile floors can add a great warmth and atmosphere to a room if you select tiles that fit it.

Bathrooms are where most homeowners use floor tiles. It's understandable that granite tile is the flooring material of choice in most homes as it is so waterproof. Because these tiles come in so many colors, patterns, sizes, shapes, etc., it's easy to create a stunning floor that most homeowners get great joy looking at each and every day.  You may also add a distinctive area rug on top of a granite tile floor for a layered look. A carpet will also help absorb sound as flooring tile will bounce sound waves around a room even faster than a ricocheting bullet.
