Few different ideas on using granite remnants:
 

The picture above is a stained glass window in our kitchen. Instead of using wood, we used the same stone in our kitchen for the ledge - Madura Gold.

Here's a close up.
 

We framed it in after the stone was installed.
 

Here's a picture of a shelf under our stairs. Works great to hold cleaners and those wire shelves fit on perfectly!

Add a granite shelf on top of a shelf? I think it adds a little to the plain cabinet.
 

We use a hunk of granite under the gate to keep our dogs from digging out.  Works great!
