Types of building stone used in various types of construction:

1. Uncut (raw) stone
2. Random cut stone
3. Fragmented and sifted stone (aggregate)
4. Dimensioned blocks
5. Processed stone, cut and shaped in the form of slabs or tiles.

In recent years, in order to prevent this terminological confusion in the international market, material in the Natural Dimension Stones sector have been classified in four categories:

1. True (Scientific) Marbles
2. Coloured Natural Stones
3. Travertines and onyxes
4. Hard Stones (Magmatic and Volcanic)

According to this classification, it is sufficient to employ the name of the region together with the type and colour: e.g. Marmara Marble, Afyon White Marble (Cream), Bilecik Beige, Adapazari Black, Denizli Travertine, Kirflehir Onyx, Kozak Granite, Izmit-Kadifekale Andesite, Nevsehir Volcanic Tufa.
